"Reel Competition" (in it's
first cut) premiered at Crossroads Cinema in October 2003. It
was a success covered by three different newspapers and over 300
people attended. We are hoping to post some pictures from the
paper and the articles in the near future. Since that showing we
have had numerous requests for a repeat showing and we are now
trying to work out details to do just that in early fall
2004. This time we hope to set up a Q & A session with
audience and cast and crew members. The reason for the late
start is because Paxton Williams will be able to make the
showing. Paxton has been in London for school almost since the
end of shooting. Our DP Geoff Gooch has just gotten back from a tour
with Royal Caribbean where he has been since August 2003 and he will
be in attendance at this screening. Since the last showing of
"REEL COMPETITION" the film has gone through many changes and
reedits. We have fixed most of the sound problems, added new
music including a couple new songs from a really wonderful band the
"Bahama Llamas" ( I will add a link to their web site so you can
here their music it really is some good stuff), we have
shortened scenes and rearranged a couple scenes and Mike was editing
on it as late as August 2nd. It has now been sent to
over 15 film festivals and or film/video competitions with a few
more to enter. Most competitions have not made there final
decision yet, those should be coming between and October and
January 2004. There are over 2000 such festivals so we are
taking our time deciding where we want to try to enter it.
However it was accepted in the New York International Film
festival held in Las Vegas July 20-27, 2004. 14 cast crew and
audience members went to Las Vegas to see the film. The film
did win the "Best Directorial Debut" of a Feature Film
award. Pictures from the event will be up very very
soon.
A DVD and video tape will be available for sale later this
year. We are hoping to include behind the scenes footage,
interviews with cast and crew (so Alex Lee maybe calling you soon as
he is conducting the interviews ) and we will have a blooper
reel.
We will be trying to update much more often so check back
once in a while to see what is next for "Reel Competition". If
you have any questions go to our contact page and feel free to give
us a call or drop us an e-mail.
